As the mother of a girl, I have a lot of things to look forward to.

Pretty much anything to do with horses
I'm not, however, looking forward to the whole "Princess" thing. If you have girls, you know what I'm talking about. If not, well, it seems that in the past ten years, this whole princess thing has gotten out of hand. Specifically, the Disney corp. marketing/brainwashing campaign to young girls using all the Disney princesses.
When I was a young girl, I didn't want to be a princess.
I wanted to be a horse.
It took a long time before I realized I had to give up my dream of changing species.
Okay, so I was a weird kid. (When I was eight and my dad told me he was an engineer, I thought it meant he drove trains. I always wondered why he wore a suit and tie to work, instead of overalls and a red bandana. I told all my friends at school that my dad drove trains, because well, that's a cool job. I believed this for several years before he explained how a slide rule works. I was horribly disappointed.)
So I'm not looking forward to when Sena is old enough to notice this "princess" thing. I'm trying to figure out an explanation for her so she won't want to be one. Maybe I should show her this clip. For those of you who've seen the movie Mean Girls, you will get a kick out of it.

Not every little girl is gonna wanna be a princess, as you already know, so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. You may not ever have to cross that bridge!
You should see Disney's "The Princess and the Frog." They actually make fun of themselves and the princess culture that they helped to create.
