Favorite YA Books

Last year I started reading a lot more YA novels.  Most of the ones were recommendations or heard of by word-of-mouth. I liked most of the books I read, but these five were the standouts, in my humble opinion.

I plan to keep reading books furiously until April, which by then I will hopefully be working in the garden and staying outside until it gets dark.  I read and watch TV during the winter, but once spring comes it doesn't happen.

It's a Midwestern thing.

1. Ship breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi

2. Divergent by Veronica Roth

3. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

4. Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

5. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
